Commuters are now able enjoy free internet access on several Citrus Connection routes. Citrus Connection, the local public transit service, added Wi Fi Routers to buses with a heavy concentration of commuting riders to provide an engaging use of their time should they desire.
The buses that have Free Wi Fi service available are route 12, which connects Lakeland and Winter Haven; 22XL, Bartow Express, between Lakeland and Bartow and 22XW that runs between Winter Haven and Bartow. The 22XL, Bartow Express route, includes the Park & Ride lot, located at Main and Rose Streets offering a shaded area to protect vehicles from the Florida summer sun.
Danny Ours, Executive Director of the Lakeland Area Mass Transit District, operating as the Citrus Connection, said "We have been investigating customer amenities and are pleased to be able to add this new service to our commuter oriented bus routes."
The Citrus Connection recently added forward facing cameras to their buses which provide a record of activities while the bus is running its route. These cameras are an invaluable tool in accident investigations and incident review corroboration.
Lakeland Area Mass Transit District (LAMTD), doing business as the Citrus Connection, was established 26 years ago to fund and operate public transportation in the Lakeland area. The combined routes cover over 7,500 miles per day and annually provides approximately million rides. Additionally, LAMTD contracts to provide service in Winter Haven, Bartow, Auburndale and other communities in Eastern Polk County.
